Historic National OOS Averages

This view displays the national out-of-service (OOS) averages for driver, vehicle, and hazmat inspections. These averages represent industry-wide safety trends calculated from all inspections in the FMCSA database.

The rates are calculated by counting unique inspections and determining what percentage resulted in out-of-service violations. Driver OOS rates include only driver-level inspections, vehicle OOS rates include only vehicle-level inspections, and hazmat OOS rates include all inspections.

Use this data to understand industry-wide safety trends and compare individual carrier performance against national benchmarks.
